Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to support the members by increasing technical expertise, building contacts within the GIS community and keeping members up to date with the latest developments in GIS. 

 

Who We Are

The North Carolina ArcGIS Users Group Inc. (NCAUG) is a non-profit (Tax Exempt under section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code) organization created to provide a forum for the exchange and distribution of knowledge, techniques, and data for people across North Carolina using and/or associated with software produced by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI).  While the focus is ESRI software and its related GIS applications, we certainly welcome all aspects of GIS, and users from all disciplines, including state and local government, academia, the private sector, and beyond.

Congratulations to our NCAUG Student Scholarship Award Winners.

Our Graduate Award Winner out of 14 applicants is Talor Bryce Galloway from UNC Wilmington.

Our UnderGrad Award Winner out of 9 applicants is Sarah Jean Midolo from Elon University.

Each winner received a $2000 award as well as a Free Registration at our upcoming Conference in Asheville in August.

2018 Student Scholarship Awards

The North Carolina Arc Users Group (NCAUG) is pleased to announce the 11th annual, 2018 NCAUG Student Scholarship Award applications.  The scholarships are intended to support full-time students enrolled in GIS-related courses/activities in an accredited North Carolina Community College or University with an emphasis in GIS.  Applicants must be enrolled, full-time, during the 2018/2019 academic year in order to be eligible.  Previous NCAUG Scholarship Award recipients are not eligible to apply.  There will be two categories, Undergraduate (including Community College) and Graduate, in which two $2000 awards will be granted, one for each category.  The recipients will also receive free registration to the 2018 NCAUG Fall Conference and are strongly encouraged to give a presentation.

 

Applications are due by 3/30/2018. The NCAUG Scholarship Committee will review the applicants and recipients will be notified by Date 4/30/2018.

Review Criteria

Each applicant will submit an essay of no longer than two, double-spaced pages.  This should be typed and submitted either as a word or .pdf document.  The student’s last name must be included in the file name.  The essay should include:

 

  • Your history with GIS, how you were introduced to it

  • Your experiences with GIS

  • How this scholarship will support your GIS-related activities or research

  • Future career goals and how they relate to GIS
